Eight Nebraska Wesleyan University students and alumni have been accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center鈥檚 College of Medicine through the early decision program.
This year鈥檚 early admission pool at UNMC accepted 50 students from across the country with SM论坛 current students and recent graduates making up more than 15 percent of the pool.
鈥淒uring their undergraduate program at SM论坛, regardless of their major, students are supported in their pre-medical courses with fantastic instruction, mentoring and advising,鈥 said Cindy Marolf, assistant professor of biology and SM论坛鈥檚 pre-health advisor.
Marolf also credits SM论坛鈥檚 active Pre-Health Club, which hosts a variety of pre-health professions speakers to help students find the right career path and help with identifying job shadow and volunteer experiences that are important to the medical school application process. In addition, SM论坛 faculty advise students and provide valuable letters of recommendation for student applications.
鈥淏ecause of this support, SM论坛 has an impressive 87 percent acceptance rate to medical school,鈥 said Marolf.
